Got 10 minutes? Indulge in some DIY self care!
We all know that self care is vital for our physical, mental, and emotional health, but it can be so hard to take the time we need to relax and recharge. Even worse, it can be so expensive! I’m a wannabe homesteading girl at heart, so today I’m sharing three recipes for DIY self-care that I absolutely love!
1. Self Care for Your Face
Winter is brutal on skin, especially if you’re already prone to dryness. Put your best face forward with a little hydrating TLC. My favorite recipe is:
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
- 1 egg white
- 1 handful of oats
Simply combine all three ingredients in a bowl and apply it to your face. Definitely do this over the sink because it’s pretty messy! The oatmeal exfoliates gently while the coconut oil moisturizes and the egg protein tightens. Bustle has two other great masks in this article.
2. Scrub Your Skin
Winter dryness isn’t too gentle on your feet and elbows either. Did you know that making your own scrub is basically the easiest thing ever? The basic recipe is only two ingredients: sugar or salt and oil. Seriously, that’s it! Combine one part exfoliant to one part oil and store in an air-tight jar so you always have it on hand. My favorite combination is brown sugar and coconut oil, but check out these fun variations from Hello Glow.
3. Soak Your Troubles Away
If you have a little bit more time and inclination, here is my ultimate recipe for self-care: homemade bath bombs! This project does require a bigger up-front investment of a couple of things you probably don’t have on hand, but it will pay for itself over time if you love relaxing in a hot bath. The internet is full of recipes, but my go-to is on Wellness Mama’s site. You can buy the citric acid and the bath bomb mold on Amazon.
If you try any of these recipes, I would love to hear your results! Or if you have favorite DIY self-care recipes of your own, please share them in the comments! You can see more of my favorites on Pinterest, too!
