As summertime comes to an end, we’re looking forward to crisp outdoor runs, feeling cozy in fleece and flannel, and pumpkin spice flavoring on everything! But while it can be easy to focus on cool weather treats, there’s a lot more autumn-themed fun you can have that actually boosts your health, too. Scroll below for some healthy fall activities and find new ways to have a blast with friends and family.
Are you in the mood for some healthy fall activities? Scroll below for a few ideas…
Go Apple Picking
The only thing better than biting into a crisp, juicy apple is doing so right after you’ve picked it off the tree. Apples are a low-calorie, high-fiber snack, and their natural sweetness is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Participate in a Nature Scavenger Hunt
Of course, you could go for a hike, but make it more fun for kids (and grown-ups) by coming up with a list of things to look for on the trail. A cluster of mushrooms? A boulder the size of your car? Tree bark that looks like a face?
Pick the Perfect Pumpkin
If you haven’t done this in a while, you might be surprised at how much time you can spend looking for a pumpkin whose shape and size really speak to you. Bonus points if you carry it back from the patch instead of rolling it in a wheelbarrow.
Play Touch Football
Grab a few friends and hold your own Fall Bowl game! Don’t worry about complete teams or all the nuanced rules of actual football. Think of it like tag for adults, with a ball you’ve got to get to the other side of the yard.
Fly a Kite
Kite flying is a great way to clear your mind and have fun, but did you know that it has lots of health benefits, too? Being outdoors provides a connection to nature and flying a kite is a huge stress reliever.
