You do your best when motivated, right? That’s why we all need to be inspired from time to time — especially when it comes to our physical health. If your will is beginning to waiver, I’d like to share 5 inspiring motivational health tips that may help.
The beginning of a healthy lifestyle change can be an exciting time. But after a while, life often starts to get in the way. That’s why we recommend using these motivational health tips to knock down those obstacles.
Get a Workout Buddy
Exercising with a friend or family member is always more fun. Plus, you’re less likely to cancel a workout on the spur of the moment. If you belong to a gym, ask if there is a buddy program. Or try working out online with a friend via Zoom.
If finding a real-time or virtual workout buddy isn’t possible, go low-tech: ask a friend to check in with you regularly—on workout days or maybe just once a week—to give you a pat on the back or a pep talk.
What if you eat that piece of pecan pie that your spouse made or miss a workout? Don’t be too hard on yourself. You can’t change what you’ve done, but you can make better choices next time around. In fact, I highly recommend digging into How to Create a Fitness Plan that will help you stay more accountable.
Own Your Story
It’s completely normal for motivation to wane over time. If it does, it’s important to focus on the actions you can take moving forward to stay true to your goals. Building a habit of discipline will help you stay strong in the face of challenges. It helps to play a visualization game of thinking where you want to be instead of how bad you’ll feel if you don’t stay the course.
How is this for an inspiring motivational health tip? Reward yourself! Achieving health and fitness goals is definitely your priority but you must learn to enjoy the process of reaching your goal to stay focused. Always remember to celebrate your success no matter how big or small it is. Looking for inspiration? The folks at Anytime Fitness have put together a long list of things you can do to reward yourself after a good workout.
Keep a Wellness Journal
Journaling can help you look back and evaluate your progress, plus identify good (& not so good) habits. Be sure to fill your journal with inspiration by adding motivational quotes and pictures to help you keep going.
