Some days there’s no time to go to the gym. Or, for some people, maybe there is no gym membership. Whichever way you look at it, your time is precious. And there are more ways to get in shape and to be active than just going to a workout center. Below I’d like to share 5 clever ways to get fit without a gym membership.
Take the Stairs
Avoid the elevator. You might just get to where you’re going faster. And if you’re more prone to walking, take a longer route back to your car after work. Making small steps like this that add up and will help you become more active over time.
Be Active For Just One Song
Does Taylor Swift motivate you? Instead of being too ambitious, tell yourself to be active for just one song. What does being active look like? It could be dancing in place, running, or taking a brisk walk. Most likely you won’t even notice when the 3.5 minutes are over.
Work Out During a Commercial Break
If you do a five-minute circuit of lunges, burpees, and skipping, then good news – that’s a workout! Now reward yourself by lounging on the sofa. You can always pick it up again during the next commercial break. Admittedly, this doesn’t work if you’re watching Netflix.
Stick to 10’s
Try to do just 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups every day, even if they aren’t consecutive. Doing something is always better than nothing. When you find that sets of 10 are becoming too easy (and you will) – try setting your own pace. You’ll be amazed at your progress.
Make Housework Exercise Time
Cleaning the house is actually a great way to get moving. Mopping, vacuuming, and general chores all take energy. Check out this handy chart showcasing how much calories you actually burn while doing house chores by clicking here.
