If you’re running out of time to exercise today, you should probably just skip it, right? Wrong! You can reap the benefits of working out with exercise sessions as short as five minutes.
You heard that right. Micro-workouts can boost your health and strengthen your body. A study from the University of Utah shows that all those little bits and pieces of exercise you do throughout the day can add up to something big. In fact, even a single “brisk” minute of moving can have a noticeable impact.
I wrote last week about morning motivation habits here: https://bit.ly/2HV60Jx. When you have the proper motivation you feel inspired to push yourself.
So try incorporating a few of these workouts during your lunch break. While it may sound strange, incorporating a short 5-minute work out can help you feel more energized. So next time you’re spending hours working on a project or sitting in front of a computer screen, try performing one of these quick 5-minute workouts below.
Workday Arms Challenge
Try using a chair or bench to complete this arm challenge during your lunch break. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=15&v=3nhqz1DgzN8
Is there anything more hated? Or good for you? While I hate push-ups they do help strengthen the entire body (abs, shoulders, back, and arms). Plus, they’re ideal for lunch breaks because they require no equipment.
If you’re not interested in touching your hands on the dirty work floor carpet try considering lunges, squats, jumping jacks, or stair climbing to boost your heart rate.

Quickie 5-Minute Workouts on YouTube
Additionally, you can find free five-minute workouts on YouTube. Here are some examples:

- Work your favorite asset with this 5-Minute Butt and Thigh Workout by Fitness Blender (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afghBre8NlI)
- POPSUGAR Fitness shares this 5-Minute Fat-Blasting Bodyweight Workout video for those of you who need an all-over burn. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YepI40m2aEI)
Not near a computer? Set your watch or phone for a five-minute alarm and try doing as many body weight exercises as you can fit in. You can do push-ups, sit-ups, planks, squats, jumps, lunges, jogging in place, or whatever else. Just stick to it and try to get to the highest intensity level possible.
Doing something is usually better than doing nothing, so get moving. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water when you’re done!
